Author Guidelines

World Halal Review (WHR) welcomes high-quality scholarly contributions that advance interdisciplinary research on the global halal ecosystem. Authors must ensure that their submissions comply fully with the journal’s technical, ethical, and formatting standards before submission.


1. Article Types

  • Original Research Articles
  • Systematic Literature Reviews

2. Manuscript Preparation

  • Length: 5,000–8,000 words (including references, tables, and figures).
  • Abstract: 150–200 words.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords.
  • Font: Cambria (Title 14 pt; Body 11 pt; Abstract 10 pt).
  • Spacing: Single; 0 pt before, 6 pt after.
  • Alignment: Justified.
  • Paper size: A4; Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

3. Manuscript Structure

  • Title (maximum 20 words, uppercase, bold)
  • Author(s) and Affiliation(s)
  • ORCID ID (mandatory for corresponding author)
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Method
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Funding Statement
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Author Contributions (CRediT taxonomy)
  • Data Availability Statement

4. Graphical Abstract and Highlights (Optional but Recommended)

Authors are encouraged to submit:

  • Graphical Abstract: A concise visual summary of the study.
  • Highlights: 3–5 bullet points summarizing the key contributions (maximum 85 characters each).

5. References

  • APA 7th Edition format.
  • Minimum 70% from Scopus-indexed journals.
  • Majority within the last 10 years.
  • DOI required where available.
  • Hanging indent 0.5 inch (1.27 cm).
  • Reference manager (Mendeley/Zotero) required.

6. Ethical Compliance

WHR follows COPE guidelines. All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism (expected similarity index below 20%). Fabrication, falsification, duplicate submission, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.


7. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use

Authors must disclose any use of AI tools in manuscript preparation. AI tools may assist in language refinement but must not be listed as authors. Authors retain full responsibility for accuracy and scholarly integrity.


8. Submission Checklist

  • Manuscript formatted according to WHR template
  • Title page with author details
  • Blind version without author identity
  • Cover letter submitted
  • ORCID provided (corresponding author)
  • References formatted in APA 7
  • AI Disclosure statement included (if applicable)

9. Cover Letter

Authors must submit a cover letter stating the originality of the work, confirmation that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere, and a brief explanation of its scholarly contribution.


10. Copyright and License

Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a copyright agreement or open access license as determined by the journal’s publication policy.


11. Open Access Policy

WHR provides open access to published articles to ensure wide dissemination of research findings in the global halal community.


12. Article Processing Charge (APC)

Information regarding Article Processing Charges (if applicable) will be clearly stated on the journal website. Any applicable APC will only be charged after manuscript acceptance.


13. Review Process

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Editorial decisions are final and based solely on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.

WHR is published biannually (February and July).
